Disk Drill and it's recovery vault is an impressive new app from Cleverfiles .
It has a very clean and easy to use,almost simplistic interface that is easy to configure.

You can easily configure which drives to protect and choose SMART monitoring as well. MenuIcon support is an option.

There are many more options in the menu section such as deep scanning, searching for lost partitions, and opening dmg images.
