This is an amazing and very useful app for the iPhone.
I have used it now for 2 days entering business cards, printed and typed text as well as restaurant bills. The accuracy is very impressive and has garnered the application on my home screen. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do!

In July 2009 Apple released the iPhone 3GS. This device has a special bootrom that checks the firmware that iTunes tries to restore to the device. The iPhone 3GS bootrom requires that iTunes modify the images located inside the IPSW file and add a special signature to each one of the images in the IPSW. This signature is obtainable ONLY from Apple.

Apple’s server signs firmware SHSH requests made from iTunes during the ‘Verifying firmware…’ phase of a restore. If you are trying to restore a firmware that Apple is no longer signing, you will receive a 30XX error from iTunes and you will not be able to restore that firmware version to your device. /Period/. The ONLY way you can restore that firmware is to point to Cydia via your hosts file OR run TinyUmbrella and use the SHSH files you have saved /previously/. I cannot emphasize this enough.

***ONCE APPLE HAS STOPPED SIGNING FIRMWARE SHSH REQUESTS FOR A PARTICULAR FIRMWARE VERSION THERE IS NO WAY TO GET YOUR SHSH FOR THAT PARTICULAR VERSION.

As an example, Apple stopped signing firmware 3.1.2 SHSH requests WAY back on Feb 04, 2010. What this means is that if you did not

1.  jailbreak your device before then AND run Cydia AND allow Cydia to ‘Make your life easier’

or

2. Use Umbrella to save your SHSH for 3.1.2 BEFORE Feb 04, 2010

YOU cannot restore your device to 3.1.2 no matter what.

How to restore or update your iPod/iPhone/iPad:

After downloading the desired firmware below, you can shift-click (PC) or option-click (Mac) theRestore or Update buttons in iTunes. A file dialog will open and let you choose the downloadedipsw-file. 

Note: Your browser may change the ipsw-file into a zip-file. In that case, just rename it to end in.ipsw and iTunes will accept it.

Solution:

I deleted the .plists. The culprit probably was iCalExternalSync.plist. It’s OK now
For reference, navigate to:
yourusername>Library>Preferences>iCalExternalSync.plist

Delete the plist file and logout/in- should do the trick.

Just 2 percent of all iPhone OS handsets still in use are Apple’s first-generation iPhone, but a new calculation estimates that amounts to nearly 30 percent of the 6.1 million iPhones sold between June 2007 and July 2008.

Mobile advertising firm AdMob released its monthly Mobile Metrics report on Tuesday, which included information on the hardware and software used by owners of Apple’s handsets in the month of March. The data revealed that just 2 percent of all iPhone OS-based handsets that accessed the AdMob network were the first-generation iPhone.

At last. Apple approved Opera’s Mini browser for the iPhone overnight, and in in a few hours it’s already attracted over 150 reviews. They’re not all positive, and not all accurate, but it’s an indication of how much interest there is in a better browser. While Safari was the jewel in the crown of the iPhone user interface, it hasn’t changed in three years. There are now 80 million iPhone and iPod Touches out in the wild, so some choice is long overdue.
