-image-cool1 Finger Snap

in the wee hours

Before all this OSX miracle, yes, I was a Windows user. 2-3 button mouse was my norm and comfort zone.

When my Mac arrived a long time ago, this 1 button mouse simply was something I did not want to use. Then the “Apple logic” phenomenon kicked in and keyboard shortcuts + the mouse became the norm.

But alas, I stll missed contextual menues and alwys having to use the keyboard forced me to buy a 3 button mouse. I felt soiled and wished I could go back. When my new iMac came, I opted for the bluetooth mouse (1 button).

Enter 1 Finger Snap. My saviour. Simple, elegant, and it simply solves the problem. Yes, you now can get a wireless Mighty Mouse, but at the expense of storing a “new” wireless 1 button Apple mouse. Not cost effective.

1 Finger snap allows you to set a delayed right click ( time delay you set from .5 – 3.0 seconds ) which brings up what normally would be control-click.

0.5 seconds works best for me (I hope they can even shorten that), and I am once again happily using my purchased Apple hardware.

You have an option for sound and visual display, but I like the unobtrusive behaviour of no notification.

It works well in Universal Safari and PPC Microsoft Word all for around $7 bucks.

Try it. Especially you ‘ol Windows users.

This is a Must Have App.

So basically all you need left is an .flv player (which can be found at the bottom of this page). If you find us useful, recommend us to your friend.
Now have fun downloading.

Please note: All saved files are in .flv format. You need to download a .flv player. Some free available are VLC Player (9.2Mb) or Dedicated VLC Player (1.12Mb).

-image-DashPrefs – turn it off

in the wee hours

DashPrefs:

“Dashboard isn’t for everyone. And if you’re undecided if you’re one of them, DashPrefs makes it easy for you to keep making this choice, whenever you want. Even right now! With DashPrefs, you can:

Disable Dashboard entirely — without rebooting, without anything. Saves you system resources, and it doesn’t get in your way in the worst moment!
Disable Dashboard’s Advisory feature. This was introduced in 10.4.7, and permanently checks every 8 hours whether your widgets match those at apple.com — otherwise, an intruder could put malicious widgets on your computer, which otherwise would be virtually indistinguishable, if even at all noticeable. Apparently a useful feature, but unfortunately very vaguely documented by Apple, who don’t provide options for it, let alone a user-friendly means of turning it off!
DashPrefs is free. You have nothing to lose by giving it a try, and a lot to win.”
