Canadian cell provider Rogers Wireless is set to institute a series of changes to its cellular data plans that should pave the way for devices such as the iPhone, according to increasingly corroborated reports. A tip indicates that the carrier will begin offering a reworking of the company’s $20 monthly Communicate Package that allows both unlimited Internet access from a given phone as well as up to 2500 SMS text messages, 1000 MMS picture or video messages, and calling extras such as voicemail and caller ID. A separate $7 plan will offer just the Internet use and 50 minutes of video calling with Rogers’ VISION service, while a $5 plan will offer just the data alone.

Mac OS X Leopard: Overlay Drawers onto Your Dock’s Stacks: “Stacks is pretty much Leopard’s only non-eyecandy change to the dock, and it had the potential to be pretty handy, but the fact that the icon representing the stack is whatever the top file in the folder happens to be really ruins it (for me at least). However, if you haven’t yet given up on stacks and thrown them off your dock, there is a solution: overlaying stacks icons.”

10.5: Spoof MAC address on some machines: “There are many legitimate reasons why someone would want to spoof a system’s MAC address, and I won’t go into them here. Long story short: in Tiger, it was extremely easy to spoof the MAC address, as explained in ‘>this hint. In Terminal.app, just type:

sudo ifconfig en0 ether 00:00:00:00:00:00

where en0 is the network interface you wish to change the MAC address of, and 00:00:00:00:00:00 is the target MAC address. This code cannot be used in Leopard, but it turns out the solution is extremely simple, and just as straightforward. Again in Terminal, just type:

sudo ifconfig en0 lladdr 00:00:00:00:00:00
